So it seems that pretty much all of java is scheduled to go away,
It is not scheduled to go away. It is marked as impacted whent he deps go away.

javapackages-filesystem
javapackages-tools (also through its jpackage-utils alias / Provides)
javapackages-local
This will merely start FTBFS when xmvn-connector-ivy will be retired.
Which all are build from the same javapackages SRPM being FTBFS for a long time now.

I think so. javapackages-tools BuidlRequires xmvn-connector-ivy.
Can we please exempt the javapackages srpm from being retired
until we have sorted things out?
They will not be retired based on this policy, only xmvn-connector-ivy will be
retired.
That will remove a ton of deps from the list of affected packages.
To remove the packages from the list, somebody would need to manually hack the
script or the output. Or javapackages-tools could stop BRing
xmvn-connector-ivy. Or xmvn-connector-ivy could be fixed. Or retired sooner.
