Our packaging ruleset fits less and less to the evolution in the development of (Linux) software. We need to adapt it without giving up the basic principles (such as safety, freedom, reliability, etc). There are already a lot of suggestions for this. At that time, in connection with the Java stack, Fesco resp. the community was not (yet) ready.
