I would reformulate a little bit: Do we want to keep the (IMHO, YMMV) most efficient way to open a new terminal readily available, or do we want to force all the regular terminal users (which are MANY, IM_NS_HO) use other methods less efficient or even install a whole additional package (that they have to know of that it even exists, and how it's named) to get this oh-so-scary-to-your-average-windows-user menu option "Open terminal" back? What is gained by removing the option, and what does it cost to add it back later. Compare. For me, a clear case.
