Hello, thanks for reply but it didn't helped me out. I am using Linux since 6 years and i have some _little_ knowledge... ;-) I don't use LVM because i never had a need for it. The entry in my grub.conf looks exctly like the entry for an older kernel which still is installed and i am using right now. I will give Dan Fruehauf's hint a try...
