There may be more to that iceberg than appears above the surface in the form of non-distributed or private software outside the realm of the public repositories. As for examples, I can only point to some of my own ancient binaries which I would certainly not suggest as a plea to preserve glib1. But there may be other more significant interests with software vendors and large private users. I have no idea how significant this might be, but perhaps this should be discussed more publicly.
