Sounds good to me. Too bad the LSB sort of wandered off into the haze, what we really need is some freedesktop.org equivalent for distributions. There's no fundamental reason why packages have to be incompatible, a lot of times the differences are different merely through being apart. But yeah, I agree that people translate "I want things to be easy" into "I want it to be like on the Mac" internally.
