Yes, that was the idea. I can imagine, that the reason for your proposal is probably the not so straight forward transition from upstream name "foo" to Fedora name "python3-foo". But I am not expert on Python naming conventions.

A Python package called <name> provides python3dist(<name>) (where <name> is converted to a canonical form, defined by upstream rules). But the package name is completely artificial. There are guidelines, but:

1) historically, not all packages follow them
2) for human reasons, not all packages follow them
3) there are packages that follow guidelines but still make this difficult.
   e.g. applications can be called "app" and not "python3-app".


I understand. But my point is that it might be better to emphasize the default convention. Of course exceptions might be necessary.
