Seems like that'd resolve the constant bickering over what's in Core and what isn't. Just make core the bare essentials for a desktop system - MacOS X and Windows can be useful guides in this respect - and then make it super easy for people to find and install the software they want. Voila - you now have space to put compatibility libraries in, and users don't have to think about details like what a GTK+ is because it's there, out of the box, waiting in case it's needed. thanks -mike
