As some others said this has always kinda been a thing, but it
definitely seemed to happen to me much, much more recently. FWIW,
though, in Rawhide I'm finding the 5.5 kernel series much better than
5.4 - this isn't happening any more, and suspend seems to be working
much better again (it was useless on my desktop for a while).

You might try a Rawhide kernel and see how that goes...
