Out of curiosity I tried a build with "-l3" for load limiting but I still got a OOM situation on my Ryzen 5 2600 w/ 16GB of memory. 

Trying again with -j3 (since -l doesn't monitor memory) and so far so good!

Since I'm running the build remotely from my work laptop I'm monitoring my home workstation via cockpit and atop.

So far 'correlations' seems to be one of the memory hogs peaking at about 13/16GB on my system. I could probably increase my memory significantly by closing down X...

It may just be for fun but now I have a reason to upgrade to 32GB! :)
