Considering that 3.9 is 3 years old and the current version is 9.0, if 
nothing in Fedora depends on 3.9 anymore, it should be perfectly safe to 
retire it.

But thanks for doing the right thing, i.e., for having maintained the 
compatibility package as long as it was needed and for giving us a chance to 
object to the impending removal. I wish that kind of care were also taken 
elsewhere in Fedora…
