I'm not saying that the analogy is appropriate, but it is just not true
that 32-bit support is isolated.  We will have to patch lots of code to
support the new *_time64 system calls, and that will impact everyone,
even for applications that are never run on 32-bit systems.

(This assumes that we can magically fix the native linker issues on
32-bit architectures.)
