That would be one way of doing it. But I was hoping for a solution
that would allow the nice(ish) GUI up2date system to be used
transparently. If it works out I suspect I'll have command line tools
+ the proxy option.

BTW: is there any decent documentation on up2date (ie the system, not
the program)
