Consider also that

1) You can't forward or CC on an email reply to Discourse, or you're opening 
up your account so that anyone can reply as you.

2) Its formatting is completely broken, and edited messages don't get sent out 
to the "mailing list mode" subscribers.

3) You can't x-post a message

4) You can't easily create a thread based on another thread

5) It doesn't send out more than a set number of emails a day, regardless of 
what goes through.

All this, among a few other things we addressed when the CommOps folks were 
moving to Discourse.
