This doesn't sound good at all. Said differently, the above mass-orphaning is equivalent to a unannounced change ( https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Releases/30/ChangeSet ). Note that I do not blame the original maintainer's for orphaning: I'm just stating that if modules are not accepted in buildroots the impact is worse than any unannounced, self-contained change. This is the shortcoming that should be addressed.
