What I use it for could be done with the other solutions as well, and may even be better done with the other solutions.
We use sudo extensively on every unix system we have. If you've got more than one person doing sysadmining on a machine, it's essential.
If I wanted to spend time tracking down and installing all the basic things I need to make a system where I can be productive, I'd install Solaris, not Linux.
