But whom does this help? There are still updates going out daily, the 
repodata download cost is still there, the notifications too if you aren't 
doing client-side batching (and if you are, you don't need server-side 
batching to begin with).

The only difference I see is that some fixes take longer to reach the users 
and that the huge Tuesday (Wednesday morning for most users) pushes are a 
huge pain to go through if you want to actually check what you are updating. 
(Am I the only one who bothers reading update notes?)
