I only skimmed the mail because it talked about python packages.
But boost-python is not a python package.
It installs a shared library, libboost_python2.so, which is a library
of C++ symbols that implement the Boost.Python C++ library.
Why is "python2-boost" a better name for this than "boost-python2"?
That's what the packaging guidelines require for python packages.
It's not a python package.
Why was boost-python3 not also renamed? Having "boost-python3" and
"python2-boost" makes no sense.
I decided not to rename python3 subpackages to reduce the scope
of the change (and potential for errors). Hopefully this state will be
only temporary, and the python3 subpackages will be renamed (along with
the remaining python2 subpackages which don't follow the new naming).
Was this thought through at all?
