non-verbose build.log aside, I'm pretty sure that:
usr/lib64/libgdal.so.20: undefined reference to
`mysql_error@libmysqlclient_18'
type errors, means libgdal likely needs rebuilding first, before any of it's
dependencies.

gdal building is failing on F27 due to another reason (not mariadb related)...
