Just to summarize: %{_libdir}/libfoo.so.N* gets packaged to libfooN %{_libdir}/libfoo-X.Y.so.N* gets packaged to libfoo-X.Y_N (e.g. if the part before ".so.N*" ends with a digit separate the library's major version with an underscore). Both versions have a "Provides: shared-library-package" to help identifying the disposable-if-not-depended-upon packages. -- Axel.Thimm at ATrpms.net
