Tracker processes call sched_setscheduler/ioprio/nice to lower their priorities to a minimum, that's as educated as you can get from userspace.
I don't think this has any impact on caches.
I'm not even sure how effective cgroups would be to make sure that the
indexing activity doesn't disturb the rest of the system.
