that's simply not possible for every environment

cases where your company stuff is behind a VPN and your normal internet connection and DNS resolution for anything else is using your ISP's nameserver are quite common

frankly when you sit in a customer LAN provisioning it's own DNS and internal views from where you at the same time have a VPN tunnel to your own company network there is no way to avoid "split DNS"

not that i use such setups but that's real world usage
