Maybe feature complete by the end of this year, but Java 9 will not be
released until this time next year (assuming no delays), which in
itself will mean nothing.

Because none of the project using Java will adopt it anytime soon.

And even when enough time passes, it still won't solve the problem of
trying to fit Java into rpm packages.
