You should not even be able to, since k3bsetup is NOT included in Fedora Core 3. This sounds again as if you picked up a k3b package somewhere else. I've seen a number of users have problems with such packages, sometimes because patches were not included. A downgrade to FC3 k3b and latest kernel fixed it for them.


You are correct:
[root@alina alina]# rpm -q k3b
k3b-0.11.9-1.xcyb

I'll try to downgrade to the FC3 k3b, see if that works.

FYI, the combination of using k3bsetup < 0.11.18 on kernel >= 2.6.9 also leads to non-functional systems, as per k3b-0.11.18 changelog:


Some improvements regarding the kernel >= 2.6.8 issues:
* Do not warn about cdrecord not running suid root on kernel 2.6.8 and above
* K3bSetup now removes the suid root bit on kernel 2.6.8 an above systems
