Think e.g. PVR applications - well, I guess that's pretty much what your cron job is at the moment in some sense! ;) OK, so there aren't any PVRs included in Fedora Core, but it would be som much easier to get this done right if the core includes the potential to do it and it's _very_ hard to do it in a non-hacky way without universal buy-in.
