There's always an option of finding a provenpackager willing to apply
the patch.

Example: In March Michael Simacek prepared over 400 patches and sent
them to me in bulk. After review I applied them all. You can see the
commits at [1] (look for "Use Requires: java-headless rebuild" threads).

I offered you on IRC applying any patches for Java packages, as this is
my area of expertise.  I suggested either emailing them in bulk or
following the procedure I use [2]. Have you considered this?
