I'm having trouble understanding what is being documented there. It may be something that should be "fixed" in dnf. Fixed being a bit of a misnomer because (1) it's more of a kludgy workaround that (2) can't work on all situations. But as you point out, sometimes ui can't be pure because the things it's giving insight to are not very clean and neat themselves.
