* install a minimum F17
* http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Upgrading_Fedora_using_yum#Fedora_17_-.3E_Fedora_18
* install additionally needed software

and if i repeat it again and again:
proven by some hundret times yum-upgrades are clean and stable
until Fedora finally decides to get unuseable which hopefully
does not happen
