Easy: go to danwalsh.livejournal.com

In the upper-right corner of the page, right-click on "Search at
danwalsh", select "Add a keyword for this search". In the window that
pops up, in the keyword field enter e.g. "dw" (without the quotes).

- From now on, you can just type
dw <search_words>
into the regular URL bar and it will automatically search at
danwalsh.livejournal.com

I've been using this feature for Bugzilla and Trac tickets for years.
It's fantastic.

If you want to have it specifically search using Google, you can do
this by setting up a custom Google search bar and saving THAT as the
keyword, or just go into your bookmarks and edit the Location field of
the keyword bookmark you just saved. The one I described above
specifically uses Livejournal's own search facility, but you can look
at it for an example of how to structure the search you want to do.
