Plus, this proposal makes no attempt whatsoever to investigate other schemes. People have already "fixed" the Unix filesystem, with varying degrees of success. Take a look at Plan9 for a positive example, or OS X for a negative example. "Those who cannot learn from history are doomed to repeat it".
