OSS is not unique in providing multiple of a XYZ app. Commercial software has always provided multiple of XYZ apps and has that been a good thing? For instance: I'm sure you can find multiple music players for Android phones in the Google store, but does that mean it is a good thing? There comes a time when a software developer needs to swallow their pride and work together with another human being to create a better software instead of forking.
