is it limited to half the RAM or 2 GB?
on my machine half the RAM is 8 GB

what about a application storing 4 GB in /tmp
no longer possible

however, it is still bullshit AS DEFAULT
do not touch users RAM for temp crap

if the application thinks it is useful to buffer
something in the RAm it can do this since many
years and THIS is the memory you can swap out
if needed

why do some people all the time introduce braindead
changes for the sake of the change? leave the system
as it is if it works fine and search a hobby beside
IT if you are bored!
