Windows is the OS with all the attack vectors open.   Users of every
other OS should not be hostage to this SecureBoot by default.

You say this as if we have any control over this, whatsoever. The vast majority of PCs on the market are designed to run Windows. They come with Windows pre-installed. In order to come with Windows 8 pre-installed, they will have to enable secure boot at the factory. There is no stopping this.
