Normally what I'm used to with EFI boot and nomodeset is X can't actually startup, but the rest of the services load, and I end up at a prompt. > > 4. > Out of 5 boot attempts, I get to a usable tty2 console and can reboot thrice. > > Twice, I get a hang right after GRUB loads either the kernel or initrd, the GRUB splash screen is present with no text. It goes by quick enough and isn't logged, so I'm not sure if it's important. But I do get a reboot, albeit with about a 1 minute delay over F16. I suspect 'yum install plymouth' may help with that. In F16, dracut required plymouth, and dracut is in @core, so plymouth got pulled into any install. In F17, dracut doesn't require plymouth any more, and this is desired. So for Alpha I stuck plymouth into comps, but I only put it into @base, not @core. Minimal installations don't install @base, they install @core. If you do a text mode installation, you get a minimal install, hence no plymouth. I'm not entirely sure what we want to do about this for Beta - whether we want to put plymouth in @core, or what. -- Adam Williamson Fedora QA Community Monkey IRC: adamw | Twitter: AdamW_Fedora | identi.ca: adamwfedora http://www.happyassassin.net -- devel mailing list devel@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx https://admin.fedoraproject.org/mailman/listinfo/devel
