That's exactly the source of the complaint: Only stuff hardcoded inside gnome-shell (or written as a gnome-shell extension) can get the intended rendering, everything else (in particular, everything non-GNOME) is treated as a second-class citizen and filed into a trash drawer hidden most of the time.
