I'm a sysadmin at a site with ~200 client machines, and have site-local customizations to use sqlite here anyway (mostly because of NFS homes). For this use-case, as well as our live media, this makes very good sense. 2. sqlite is also the akonadi default on mobile platforms. I'm guessing largely due to far less runtime (cpu and disk) baggage. 3. similar to 2, less runtime dependencies.
