UPDATE 2 November 2011: The latest released version is libpng-1.5.6 [DOWNLOAD].

* For legacy applications, libpng-1.4.8, libpng-1.2.46 and
  libpng-1.0.56 are also available and will only be updated if
  necessary for security reasons.

* Despite a previous announcement, we will continue to support
  libpng-1.0.x with security bugfixes for the forseeable future.
