I was discussing it later with the GDB team and the Python Pretty Printers should be both cross-arch compatible and they should work even for other versions - such as using GDB `set sysroot'. /usr/share/gdb/auto-load/usr/lib64/libstdc++.so.6.0.14-gdb.py from libstdc++-4.5.1-4.fc14.x86_64 already contains the version string `6.0.14' so there can be multiple such `host OS' packages installed for supporting various `target OS' versions.
