One reason Mandriva's backports repository was initiated was because, when MDV allowed only conservative updates and had no official facility for adventurous updates, a forest of third-party repos offering new versions of things sprung up. Obviously this led to confusion for people doing user support ('wait, exactly *whose* KDE 4.3 packages were you running again?') and all sorts of fun with incompatibilities between the third party repos. -- Adam Williamson Fedora QA Community Monkey IRC: adamw | Fedora Talk: adamwill AT fedoraproject DOT org http://www.happyassassin.net -- devel mailing list devel@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx https://admin.fedoraproject.org/mailman/listinfo/devel
