Hence it's name ;-) . Centaur measured the most frequently used instructions used by Windows, and optimised the CPU for those. Or at least that was the theory. Performance-wise, it didn't really change the world, as the AMD K6 was around at pretty much the same time which wiped the floor with it, whilst only being slightly more expensive. Dave
