Problems updating from F11 -> F12
1st: graphics interface (X) didn't work. Hardware NVIDIA 5500 + LG 710E CRT.
After update: /etc/X11/xorg.conf was altered:

Driver "sis"

...
I guess that install is detecting motherboard's Sis chip (but it is
disabled)...
LG 710E is also source of problems since correct definition is:

2nd: after using textual update (that went without problems) and fixing
/etc/X11/xorg.conf kdm failed to start
