Unfortunately SANE support for the 5370C isn't universally "Good" - I
asked for the compatibility chart to be updated a year or so ago but I
guess that wasn't fixed.

There are several hardware revisions sold under the 5370C model number;
some may still work, others definitely didn't the last time I tried. We
had one with a C5 ASIC, though it sounds like you've had more luck
getting any useful functionality out of yours, so I guess you may have a
different revision.

I spent quite some time trying to track down the problem, but upstream
wasn't able to be particularly helpful. The sane-avision mailing list
isn't archived, which doesn't help.
