Do you really expect packagers to check the versions of all packages being pulled and compare them with the actual packages in the repos? One thing that could be done to reduce the pain is to explicitly indicate the buildroot overrides (as if they are coming from a different source repo) in root.log. Is this possible? Right now there is no way to tell where BR's come from without manual checking.
