We had a similar discussion on the version of cup lately (http://www.redhat.com/archives/fedora-devel-list/2004-May/msg00290.html). I do appreciate a somewhat standardized way to version packages. That works much easier with scripts etc. Are there guidelines on versioning written down somewhere? Wouldn't it be a good idea to formulate and write them down if they do not yet exist?
