Hi there, I am one of owncloud-client and nextcloud-client maintainers.
I am here to ask for help concerning a bug that affects GNOME users
experience with owncloud-client and nextcloud-client (which is a clone

If you click on the application launcher, the client's settings window
isn't shown, even if the app is already running. This is the incorrect
behaviour according to the upstream developers [1]. It is also
inconsistent with how the ownCloud client behaves on other platforms
(I've tested Ubuntu and Arch) as well as the upstream development
version [2].

users say that upstream RPM package is not affected by this bug. I tried
to figure out where is the problem, but I had no success.
Moreover I am mainly a KDE Plasma user, so I did not have the
opportunity to test well lastest GNOME changes.
Did you test with a wayland DE?
This is sounds like the same problem as https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=766284 which affects all or most GTK+ apps under Wayland.
The symptoms of that bug is that you launch any single-process program from anywhere and nothing happens, because the existing window is in the background and gtk fails to bring it forward.
(As for the fact that upstream works, chances are it uses a bundled Gtk that was built with X11 only)
Cheers,
Giovanni
