There could be a delay of say 3-5 seconds, with grub hidden, so if we fail to boot people have a change to react. In any case, I bet that 90% of the people with failed boots will try to boot from USB/CD to a live session.

If you are talking about Macbooks and such, I believe that Workstation should also consider limiting itself to say Thinkpads, maybe X, W and T series. This way the OS can be a lot better coupled with the H/W and the testing scope is a lot more focused.

There is nothing wrong with that, and IMO it would be very well received by the community in general.
