it depends on what part of the stack you look at: the high level desktop
stuff is very good, but the POSIX implementation is horribly buggy,
basic things like poll(2) may not actually work, with different bugs in
different releases:

so developers that write low-level portable software tend to hate macOS,
while other developers who write non-portable desktop apps tend to love it.
