I agree with this. The 'Start Here' icon is useless, even for newbies. If they have a brain in their head they should figure out how to click on the 'Start Menu' equivalent (at least, from a Windows-user's point of view). I also agree that a first-run tutorial would be much more useful for first-time users. But don't make the first-run tutorial as retarded as Windows's tutorials which tell you things like 'move the mouse and click. Like this!'
