I have built several Fedora Core 3 Linux systems for friends of mine, using the Asrock K7S41GX motherboard. The onboard SiS (Silicon Integrated Systems) Sound Controller (module snd-intel8x0) has recently stopped working. The first one of these that I looked at, I thought that I had a bad motherboard.
Hi,
- this is off-topic and belongs on fedora-list, not fedora-config-list
- The update causing the problem is the kernel - there were some ALSA updates, I believe. If you fiddle with the mixer, you'll figure it out - make sure you have all the volume controls at around 75%, and try toggling the checkboxes along the bottom of gnome-volume-control that turn the different channels and features on and off.
You may email me personally on this as well, if you want, but don't reply to the list, please!
