Welcome Jane!
We are currently in the process of designing the Posters, CD sleeves,
and all the other collateral for the fedora 18 Release.
You could help out in making designs for the CD/DVD sleeve that we
print out. I have created a ticket to track the production of the
sleeves:

I think you may need a fedora account to be able to comment and add to

By being here, and introducing yourself, you have already done #1 and
#2! :)
By way of tools, we tend to use inkscape for vector, gimp for
raster/photos and scribus for preparing for print. (all on Fedora :) )
